It's time once again for....
This week I'm taking you on a tour of another Rochester landmark, this one made famous by my "Collections" post earlier this week. Many of you gasped in amazement at the mention of this local institution. Unfortunately, it's not actually open on Sundays, but I'm using it for Sundays in My City anyway... deal with it!
Anyway, here it is.... The photo tour of...
Beers of the World!
Not much to look at on the outside, I know, but once you step inside there's a beautiful, welcoming sight that awaits.
Beer, Beer Everywhere and Every Drop to Drink!
Imagine beers from every corner of the earth:
Every continent, excepting Antarctica, is represented here.
Offering many fine labels from which to choose....
The Genny Cream Ale is from our local brewery, while the others are from a little farther afield.
The Paulaner actually has my name in it... how cool is that?
And how could one possibly by-pass something called the Old Leghumper... I mean, really?
Every princess with Huge Tracts of Land needs Monty Python's Holy (Gr)ail Ale. (Tempered over burning witches.)
There's the Mojo in case yours goes missing, the 8 Ball Stout if you're looking for a better future and the Lake Placid Ubu Ale, complete with Adirnondack chair for relaxing.
St. Peter's Organic English Ale comes in a bottle shaped like Snake Oil Elixir.
From the Ukraine, there's Obolon "Svitle", which I chose over the Obolon "Bile"... because the name "Bile" made me throw up in my mouth a little bit.
There's the Celebrator, which even comes with a commemorative plastic goat figurine. (Perfect for Nanny Goats in Panties... if I can ever wrestle the little goat away from Vlad it's yours, Margaret!)
It was a tough decision on what to get Vlad for his birthday, but I finally settled on this collection for around $20:
They even have a wide variety of unusual beers in kegs for your next large gathering and a large collection of glassware from a variety of breweries for those of you who are a bit more refined and want to drink out of a glass.
I'm not sure how many beers they have from how many countries, but I do know this.... They have more beer in one place than this CatLady has ever seen before. And they're always happy to see you!
(Although I'm still wondering a little bit about the whole "the world's treasure to pleasure" bit... somehow is sounds just slightly naughty. Maybe it will make more sense after a few more beers.)
Hope you've enjoyed today's tour... Cheers! Iechyd Da! Skol! Salud!

Where was this place 25 years ago? Dang!
"Leg Humper"-LMAO! And there was a Gasthaus I remember; the owner's poodle had a habit of assaulting the custom...I'm just saying, y'know?
Hey CatLady! If they sell it, treat yourself to some JAMES BOAGS from Tasmania, Australia. My personal favourite! Indigo
Oh wow, somehow I don't think I'd ever leave if I went into a place like that! I do enjoy my Guiness as well as trying other beers :D
I love the crazy named beers! When I lived in Utah they alway did a mocking beer like Polygamy Porter beer cause one is not enough! Have a wonderful Sunday.
Wow those are some of the craziest coolest names ever..LOL thats so neat, thanks for shareing it! Happy Sunday!
I love that place! Convince them to open one in Houston...puuuhhhllleeeeezzzzeeee??!!!
Wow. I'm not an imbiber, but I'm still impressed.
If I were to imbibe, the Monty Pythong Holy Ale would've piqued my curiosity!
You are a wild cat lady! You should have pictures of LIONS not cute little kitties in your header!
Ha!
Wow! What an amazing place! And "Old Leghumper"...I am pretty sure I would have had to buy that just to display! LOL
Oh my god it is like beer heaven! I'm putting it on my 'must see before Yellowstone erupts' list!! :)
Can you believe I have never had a beer! If I ever want one though, I am sure that would be the place to visit : ) My husband will love this! I must remember to show him tonight!
Wow - that place is awesome. But what is Antarctica's problem? They have no beer to share?
Although, I'm not a beer-drinker, I do have a collection of beer labels from various breweries here in the US. Fat Tire has to be my favorite.
Why...Why would anyone name something "bile" and expect you to consume it?
And the Celebrator seems over the top with the commemorative goat, but I love it, and think of all the necklaces or mini Christmas ornaments you could make!
Subby: I bet it's a poodle thing. I once babysat for some people who had an Old Leghumper poodle. EWWW!
Indigo: I'll put the JAMES BOAGS on my list to watch for!
Skye: Vlad opened the Old Legthumper last night and it brought back memories of Guinness.
Frau: I'll suggest Polygamy Porter to the guys at Beers of the World!
Sonya: There were a lot more... like the VooDoo-ator and the Asylum, but the pictures didn't turn out too well. Darn! (Oh, wait... maybe it was the VooDoo hex that wouldn't let me take the photo.) I'll just have to buy them the next time.
Lee: Maybe you could open a franchise there!
Quirky: But if you're gonna drink, it might as well be FUN beer! If I see a Zombie beer, I'm buying it for you!
(I could use some lions for my header... gotta work on that!)
Peterson Family: Some labels are just way too good to pass up! It's how I always pick out beer & wine... by which has the best label. Taste be damned!
Chelle B: I know... isn't it exciting! Can you imagine drinking some of these while you watch Yellowstone erupt? Or does that offend you?
Life with Kaishon: Thanks for stopping by!
Phillipia: I know... Antarctica really needs to get with the program. Geesh! What a bunch of losers!
Me-Me: I'll look to see if they have any Fat Tire beer! It's like a scavenger hunt, looking for the beers people suggest! Fun times!
NGIP: I know... It's like getting the prize in the Cracker Jack, but better! Epic Fail on the Bile!
I don't drink beer but I loved this tour and your spin on Sundays In My City. You took a lot of time to put this together. Thanks a million!
Hope your Sunday is good.
xo
How cool! That St Peter's organic ale is made just up the road from where I live...if you like it, try any ale by Adnams, also local to us. Slurrrp! x
*in best Homer Simpson voice* Beeeeeer!!!
One misses beer so.
It's like a beer amusement park. If you drink enough of the beer on sale, you'll get the spins without having to go on a ride.
Joanna: Thanks for stopping by! We're all having a lovely time!
Spud: That's so cool! ROAD TRIP!
Dufus: Sad to say, I didn't see any Duff. D'oh! *sad face*
Laoch: *sigh* I went many years without drinking when I was married and beer is one of the things I really missed. (Then it was out with the ex, in with the beer.)
Mami: OOOH... I'm getting dizzy!
Monty Python has a beer?! I never knew... :-)
And in the Jamaica/Caribbean photo, two of three varieties are from TRINIDAD! YAY!
Carib is the one in the middle. I personally think the ones made for export are better than the ones sold here. The brewers make another that is more popular in the local market (Stag).
And the Shandy Carib is on the right. It's Carib blended with soda. Kinda like a wine cooler. Sorta. The Sorrel is my favourite flavour. Especially at Christmas time.
Well I really enjoyed this post. See you next week!
Do they have wine? Just kidding.I have a friend who has just about everything so I always buy a selection of beers from around the world to shut him up :)
That is a great post. All those different types of beer.Imagine that.Well If you can, have one for me.It does'nt matter which one.HA!HA!
I'm more of a wine girl myself, but from one connoisseur to another... "I'll drink to that!"
Triple Mom: From now on, it's Sorrel all around for the holidays! Thanks for stopping by... see you next week!
frigginloon: Not a drop in the place... but I did see a wino on the corner.
Donna: Anything for you, my dear! Slurp!
rx Bambi: Cheers!
That wino was probably me cat Lady !!!
My kinda place! Makes me wanna HOPS right over there!
The Old Silly
I love it! My favorite has to be the Holy (Gr)ail one!
BTW, thanks for playing my caption this contest. Funny one!
What a great place! Thanks for sharing. Wonder what Leghumper tastes like....
I think you are contributing to my alcohol problem....lol!
Old Silly: Hops on over any ole time!
Kirsten: Love those caption contests... I come up with much better captions when beer is involved!
Carolyn: I had a taste of the Leghumper... it's a porter, so it's along the lines of Guinness. Thanks for stopping by!
BS & BC: What? I'm contributing to the delinquency of a minor? Again? You're okay Bird Shit, but I don't know if Baby Caca should be having any... even if you are the same age.
Look for some Theakston's Old Peculiar. The label on the bottle describes it as a "full bodied, rich, smooth tasting ale with a mysterious and distinctive flavour". This was the last thing I ever read.
Kentucky across the Ohio border also has huge liquor stores. Their liquor tax is lower.
My husband loves looking through the huge selection of foreign beers. But, his favorite beer is micro brews from the states like Magic Hat #9.
Now this is MY kinda post! Slainte!
I'm not a bit beer gal, but that is impressive.
Keith: The Old Peculiar is now on my "must have" list.... I shall hunt it down! And if I can't find any, I'm just gonna hafta darken your doorstep to get some... especially after your claim that it's memory-erasing good!
HIt 40: Magic Hat is pretty good! We've got that here!
Helen: Slainte back at ya!
Newmami: My main squeeze is still Dr. Pepper, but I do enjoy a good beer of an evening!
Vlad sure is lucky! I may have to make a trip over to Rochester just to visit this wonderous shrine to BEER. I could do all my xmas shopping there...Old Leghumper in everyone's stockings!
