The Names Have Been Changed to Protect the Innocent

To those of you who have been asking about Vlad's name...

I ask you... is there any other suitable name for a child who decided to read Trotsky's biography of Lenin as primary source material for a report when he was in the 9th grade? Whose favorite movie for several years was "Enemy at the Gate"? And who just HAD to go against my wishes and purchase a Russian Mosin-Nagant as soon as he turned 18? And then there's this:

(Do you think I should be worried?)

Besides, Vlad works much better in the Anna Banana song than his real name.

Erm, well, but ... you name a child BEFORE he reaches 9th grade and goes all Nazi-ish on you. Least I THOUGHT that was the order of things. But nah, I wouldn'tbe worried. Kids go through phases - long as he doesn't run off to the mountains of Montana to organize a counter-resitance militant movement. Then maybe, but there's always still hope. And just to cover all my bases-

Heil Vlad!

Ha! That was funny.

And I wouldn't be worried about the "outfit."

No (wink, wink) not worried at all.

Ahem.

I LOVE Enemy at the Gate. And remember, the Russian soldiers fought the Nazis. He should read "Jack and Rochelle", a true story about Jewish prisoners who fled the Nazis and joined stranded Russian soldiers in the forests of Poland. Not a pretty story, but an important, and true story.

I always liked the Russian name Alexi - pronounced Alex-AY.

Lee... er, YEAAAHHH! That's it!

Old Silly: Thankfully, this phase has come and gone... for the most part. No worries about moving to Montana... we still laugh at those people... no, wait... you're not "one of them" are you?

Quirky: I figured you'd appreciate it... and there's an autographed picture of Lenin waiting for you if you guess his real name! (Signed by my Vlad, not that other one.... I left you a clue, since you were the one who asked!)

Mnmom: They made an awesome movie about that: "Defiance" with Daniel Craig.

Holy moly! Is this photo an optical illusion or is Vlad really 7' tall?

He looks like his mum. With more weaponry.

Tall, focused and carrying a big gun. I'd be nervous.

Oh my! Vlad it is.

Reffie: Uh, yeah. 'Fraid so.

Me-Me: No, only 6'6", but he still looks like a giant to a lot of people.

Brian: The coat is actually German, but then again you work with what you've got. (I have yet to read Trotsky... but we were in the midst of the Cold War when I was in the 9th grade so I guess I have a good excuse.)

Indigo: We do look a tad bit alike, (at one point in my life I was even as thin as he is.) But unlike Vlad's mom, mine won't let me play with guns.

Keith: A VERY big gun... and that's without the bayonet attached. (I won't let him play with sharp, pointy things in the house.) And, yes, I am nervous... I've had this nervous condition for years. *head twitches*

Mami: But, of course!

I'd be worried if he started to grow big moustache. That's a sign of incipient dictatorship tendencies.

Does he have any grenades? How about swords? Should I call to borrow a weapon if our country is ever invaded?

Wasn't Vlad a character in Ghostbusters?? LOL!

I'm not messing with Vlad, that's for sure!

MME DeFarge: I don't think I need to worry too much about that... Vlad's not very well endowed with facial hair!

Hit 40: Not any live ones, although he does have one that's been hollowed out. Swords, no. But he might be able to set you up with a few items if Canada ever invades.

Janine:: Nice to meet you too! Looking forward to reading more of your blog!

Otin: Guess it's time to resurrect Ghostbusters to check it out!

Megan: Good call! (Although in reality, he's relatively harmless.)
