It's Here! It's Here!

Whether you're ready or not, Christmas does come. I probably could have been ready on time, had I not been reading all the excellent posts from the HBDC Christmas Humor Carnival participants. Those funny folks over there just keep distracting me! Seriously... go check them out! It's the best holiday gift your could give yourself!

But, all kidding and humor aside... I really did get that pesky tree decorated and some presents wrapped to go underneath it. And I even baked some Christmas cookies... although Vlad finished them off a couple of days ago.

Here's how the tree turned out....
(It's actually taller than Vlad... it touches the ceiling)

Let me point out that there are no cats on the tree. (Remember, I'm a CatLady Without the Cats.) And zombie decorations were mighty hard to come by this year... I think Quirky bought them all long ago. But here are a few of my favorites...

Remember the socks inside of socks? My dear friend, Lisa, knitted these teeny-tiny socks for my tree:

Our friend, Bill, painted this bird...
Aunt Dorothy used to use ornaments to decorate packages... here's one of my favorites from her.

This one is my absolute favorite... my grandma made it for me...
it's a teeny-tiny baby bunny inside of a walnut shell.

I bought this fish ornament for myself just because it's silly looking...
it would be perfect for Otin's tree since he likes fishing so much!

Another friend gave me this heart, which is perfect for the
tree and reminds me of the many friends I love...

The monkey sock ornament reminds me of my grandma, too, because she used to made us monkey sock dolls for Christmas when we were kids.

This little bear was a gift for Vlad from his
Grandma Luci when he was a baby.

So what's under the tree this year? I still don't know because Vlad is working until 3:00 and I promised not to open anything until he gets home. I'm such a good mother!

The most important thing of all is that this day represents the love I have for my child, my family and my friends. And that's why I love my eclectic assortment of ornaments... they represent all of those I hold dear.

So, my holiday wish for you is that your life be filled with friendship and love! Thank you for bringing such joy into my heart each and every day!

Love,
CatLadyLarew

I loved looking at your Christmas ornaments, thank you! We have hundreds of cool ornaments. Unfortunately, this year, events conspired to prevent us from putting them up in time for Christmas, so they're all lonely and neglected in their boxes. We did get the tree up, though, and it's got lights on it. Simplicity!

Merry Christmas, CatLady! May your sock monkeys never need darning.

Janice: Hope you're having a fun day!

Quirkster: Merry Christmas to you, my favorite Quirkyloon! Enjoy your zombies!

Otin: I knew you'd appreciate that one! (It's flannel!)

Marvin: Thank you for your kind thoughts! Enjoy your holiday!

Dufus: It may take me awhile, but I do love the decorating of the tree... always brings back fond memories of good friends!

Laoch: Same to you, my friend!

Vodkamom: Hope your day is merry!

Mike: At least you got to the basics... a simple tree with just lights is always gorgeous. My ornaments stayed stashed in the basement for several years. (The ex went on this "we don't need a tree" binge.) Needless to say, the first year he was gone, the tree went up in all it's glory! If I ever get married again, it's going to be to someone who appreciates a well-trimmed tree! Hope your day is bright!

Scotty: Good to see you, Scotty! Love your Jolly Police video! Hope you're having a great day! Vlad just got home from work so we finally get to dig into those packages! Woo Hoo!

NGIP: Silly is good! Hope you're having a great day, Margaret!

Ana-Maria: And a Happy New Year to you!

frigginloon: Ah... but I have the super-special tree with a hole drilled up it's trunk (ass) so you can just set it up on a spike in the matching super-special tree stand. You can actually spin it around without it falling over. Greatest invention ever! But with my luck, it will probably still fall over on me.

gayle: Vlad did well by me again this year. The packages are finally opened and I'm sitting here all toasty warm in my new sweater and new socks! Hope you had a fun day with your gang!

A friend of mine once decided to create a Aussie Christmas tree. They cut a huge gum tree branch full of honky nuts and set it up in their loungeroom. They spent the whole evening decorating it before they went to bed. In the morning, when they woke, to their horror, they found their entire ceiling covered in baby spiders. Literally thousands of them. Guess they now know where Aussie spiders lay their eggs ...honky nuts

Stacy: We all had a lovely time! Hope you did too!

Megan: Christmas was good and the weekend's progressing quite nicely, thank you very much!

Absolute Vanilla: Great minds think alike!

frigginloon: Memo to self... avoid honky nuts (whatever those are).

Unknown Mami: Yeah, the sock monkey is awesome!

Glad you were able to get your tree up and decorated so beautifully. I really like the ornaments a lot - so very original, especially the little mouse one in the chair and the teensy little bunny in the shell - totally adorable!

I love your tree! And if I managed to be a Cat Lady without cats, my presents would have had bows on them!

I think your ornaments are just perfect. I love the sock monkeys and the heart the best. :-)

BTW what the heck's a UNACK. That's my word verification and it almost made me wake the kids I laughed so hard.

What a beautiful tree! I'm a big fan of huge trees with lots and lots of decorations, especially ones that have meaning for us. Hope your Christmas was wonderful. I'm so behind on my reading. Forgive me.

Happy New Year, dear friend...
